In 2022, our founder was living in the United States. The house he lived in had very little outdoor lighting, and once the sun went down, the area around the property became extremely dark.
At first, it seemed like a small inconvenience. But over time, it became part of everyday life.
Walking outside at night meant paying extra attention to every step because stairs, edges and obstacles were difficult to see. Finding something left outside could become frustrating. On one occasion, he even lost his footing in the darkness.
There was another concern as well. Strangers would occasionally linger around the property late at night, and with so little visibility, it was difficult to know what was happening outside.
He realized that outdoor lighting isn't simply about making a property brighter. It's about being able to see where you're going, understand what's happening around your home, find what you need, and feel more at ease using your outdoor space after dark.
And this wasn't a problem limited to one house.
Across homes, driveways, backyards, garages, farms, barns and larger properties, there are countless places that need reliable nighttime lighting—but installing conventional wired lighting can mean cables, electrical work, complicated installation and additional costs.
Solar lighting offered a simpler possibility.
That realization became the starting point for OKPRO.
We created OKPRO with a simple goal:
